6 months of marriage!

6 months of marriage!

As of Monday (the 1st), Chris and I have been married for 6 months! It is kind of hard to believe.

In some ways, it feels like we have been married for forever, in the best of ways. I think – has it really only been six months?

We have hit a daily routine. We have learned how we can both get ready in the morning, without getting in each other’s way. Although, I have to admit that this mostly means that I lay in bed for 20 min after Chris gets up. He starts work enough earlier than me that even with my commute being significantly longer than his, he needs to leave nearly half an hour sooner than I do.

We have developed a set of favorite go-to meals. At home, we enjoy ravioli and mozzarella sticks, pot stickers, hamburgers, chicken bakes from Costco. “Date night” is often Thursday – Chris works a 4-day week, so that is the start of his weekend. About half of our dates land us at the In-N-Out around the corner from our house.

In the evenings, we read our Bibles together – paragraph by paragraph, discussing as we go. We read through and discussed Hebrews, and are now a little over halfway through Revelation.

Our weekends are settling into a routine as well. The last couple weeks, we have started going to the gym. Chris is working to gain muscle and stay in shape. My focus is more on preparing for the 5k I want to run later this year. I am also doing a little bit of weight training, to gain some muscle myself and to support Chris in his aspirations. My personal best bench-press is a whopping 20 lbs. 🙂

At the same time, there is still so much for us to learn. We can’t quite read each other’s minds – at least not yet. We are still learning how to communicate – sometimes one of is talking about one thing, while one listening thinks we are talking about something entirely different. Usually those conversations include something along the line of “well, why would you want to do that?” followed by laughter after we realize the misunderstanding. But, we are getting there.

All in all, I have to say that the last six months have been awesome. I look forward to the next six months, and many years after that still to come.
